Our Editors’ Choice for the best laptop for education majors is the Dell XPS 13.

It is sleek, professional and portable.

With a 3820 x 2160 4K Ultra HD display, the laptop’s screen flaunts incredible bright and stunning colours which make for an awesome viewing experience

Memory options range between 4 to 16GB of RAM, and storage goes from 128GB to 2TB. You won’t have problems combining more than one task with the Dell XPS 13.

The 2019 version of Dell XPS 13 maintains the same weight at 2.7 pounds (1.23 kg) and size at 11.9 x 7.8 x 0.3 inches (302.3 x 198.1 x 7.6 mm) as the 2018 model.

Port selection is generous on the XPS 13: two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, one USB-C 3.1 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot are the ports available on the laptop. Some laptops like the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 lack the new thunderbolt 3 port.

Three colour models available are: rose gold-on-white, silver-on-black, and frost-on-white design.

The Dell XPS 13’s predecessor which is shipped with Kaby Lake R Core i7-8550U is fast, but the 2019 Dell XPS 13 which has Intel Whiskey Lake Core i7-8565U is faster and more efficient. The slightly superior CPU speed will help the XPS 13 tackle many computing tasks effortlessly.

As far as battery performance goes, you get approximately 12 hours of use on the 4K model and 21 hours with a Full HD display, depending of course on usage.

The Dell XPS 13 is highly recommended and remains the best laptop for education majors.

Lenovo Yoga C930

best laptops for education majors

Check Price on Amazon

The Lenovo Yoga C930 boasts a refined, premium design, which is competitive with most  2-in-1 laptops on the market. It has a decent display with touchscreen functionality.

You wouldn’t expect anything less than an Intel Core i7 on a premium laptop like this. As expected, the C930 ticks this box: its CPU is powered by Intel’s Core i7-8550U just like Dell XPS 13 and HP Spectre x360.

With a 256 GB storage, this 2-in-1 is fast, however, laptops like the Dell XPS 15 and the HP Spectre x360 have better processing speeds.

The 2-in-1 comes equipped with a stylus, and Lenovo has made available a slot for stowing and charging it after use.

Lenovo has packed in a reasonable 60 watt-hours of battery capacity into the Yoga C930’s chassis. This gives you approximately 12 hours of battery life without visiting a wall plug.

We strongly recommend the Yoga C930 as one of the best laptops for education majors.

best laptops for education majors

Check Price on Amazon

The Apple MacBook Pro is one of the best laptops for education majors.

It is a perfect fit for education majors who need a high-end, ultra-powerful laptop capable of taking on both simple and processor-intensive computing tasks.

The display is excellent and crisp, but isn’t any different from previous models except for the True Tone technology. When running processor-intensive tasks, the  MacBook Pro does an excellent job without any noticeable CPU throttling.

Aside from day-to-day computing tasks, the laptop is also suitable for gaming and can handle games like Overwatch, Fortnite, and PUBG with aplomb.

That’s not all. With Apple’s T2 chip security, you need not worry about malware. Interestingly, the T2 chip is not all about security. It takes care of the MacBook Pro’s cooling system, too.

Audio on the MacBook Pro is unsurprisingly outstanding. The speakers offer the same amazing sound quality as the MacBook Air. This is good news for anyone who digs good sound.

The MacBook Pros’ RAM uses more power than the previous models, however Apple isn’t skimping on the battery with the MacBook Pro. Apple has added a battery strong enough to power the MacBook Pro.

You could get a little above 10 hours out of the MacBook Pro without having to visit a wall plug.

The MacBook Pro has a super-responsive touchpad. Apple nailed the touchpad. It remains one of the best touchpads on the market.

Keyboard is decent. The butterfly-style keys have been tweaked and are quieter, thanks to a silicon element beneath each keycap – so no more clacky sounds.

If budget is no issue, the MacBook Pro is worth considering and remains one of the best laptops for education majors.

4. Google Pixelbook Go

best laptops for education majors

Check Price on Amazon

The Google Pixelbook Go is one of the best Chromebooks to have ever hit the shelves to date. This is a solid laptop for education majors who are accustomed to using Chromebooks.

Google ships the Pixelbook Go in three configurations, including a Core i7 variant at the top, a Core i5 version in the middle, and a Core m3 for budget buyers.

The entry level model with Core m3 ships with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You’ll find 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on the Core i5 variant. There is also a Core i5 version with 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage if you pay enough.

If you want more storage and speed, then we recommend shelling out for the Core i7 (4K display) model which packs 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

It’s slim and lightweight. The body measures 12.2 by 8.1 by 0.5 inches (WDH) and weighs 2.3 pounds. You won’t have problems hauling the Pixelbook Go in your backpack to and from school.

Is the Pixelbook Go a treasure trove of world firsts? No. That said, its overall performance is commendable and delivers excellent value.

A noteworthy area Google has done exceptionally well with the Pixelbook Go in terms of performance is battery life – it’s simply exceptional. The Pixelbook Go’s battery will last up to 10 hours on a single charge.

Elsewhere, Google was smart to equip the Pixelbook Go with one of the best keyboards you would find on a laptop. This is as good a keyboard as you’ll find on expensive laptops like the 2019 Dell XPS 13, the Asus Chromebook Flip C434, and the HP Spectre x360.

But the cherry on top of this package is the Pixelbook Go’s superb 1080p front-facing camera and the top-firing speakers which stand toe-to-toe with what the big brands boast.

The Google Pixelbook Go is equipped with two USB-C ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The USB-C ports are for charging and display out.

Just know: The Google Pixel Go does not support the Pixelbook stylus. Again, there is no biometric log-in feature.

By and large, if you’re looking for the best laptops for education majors out there, the Google Pixelbook Go can’t be beat, with its incredibly impressive battery life, cool design, and strong overall performance.

The Pixelbook Go is highly recommended as one of the best laptops for education majors.

5. Acer Chromebook Spin 15

best laptops for education majors

Check Price on Amazon

Acer Chromebook Spin 15 flaunts a 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, Intel Pentium N4200 CPU and Intel HD Graphics 505 graphics processor.

The base model boasts an Intel Pentium N4200 CPU with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and an Intel HD Graphics 505 graphics processor.

With regard to design, the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 won’t win awards. The design isn’t bad — it is not exceptional, either.

The Acer Chromebook Spin’s best selling point is its fast performance.

Elsewhere, Acer’s keyboard makes typing a pure joy. Travel and spacing between keys are just spot on. If truth be told, Acer nailed the keyboard.

The 2-in-1 Chromebook Spin 15 is 4.85 pounds and has a 15.20 x 10.31 x 0.79-inch footprint.

Other than the average design, the downsides are few and far between. Still, there are a couple of things that raise an eyebrow all the same. The first is the fact that speakers aren’t top-notch. Its sound is sufficient for solo use, but only just.

Second, the Acer Chromebook Spin 15’s trackpad feels slightly stiff at times. The trackpad can’t compete with what you’ll find on top end blowers, like the Lenovo Yoga C930, 2019 Dell XPS 13, and 2019 Razer Blade Stealth.

Rounding out the feature set are the ports. The laptop parades two USB-C ports, two USB 3.0 ports, a microSD reader, and an audio jack.

Acer claims the Chromebook Spin 15’s battery will last up to 13 hours on a single charge. In practice, the battery actually lives up to the 13-hour claim on the box. We’d be the first to disagree if it wasn’t true.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 is one of the best laptops for education majors, and we recommend it unequivocally.

best laptops for education majorsCheck Price on Amazon

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is a decent 2-in-1 laptop with pretty good specs. It is well-suited for note taking. The Pro 7 can serve as a laptop and tablet.

Its touchscreen display is as impressive as what the previous models produced by the Redmond manufacturer parade.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 now has a USB-C port, which is a good addition, nonetheless, it is not Thunderbolt 3. There is a USB-A port on the Pro 7.

With regard to CPU, three models are available: Core i3, i5, and i7. The Core i7 variant has a faster processing speed than the Core i3 and i5 models.

The base configuration (that is Core i3), comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD. If you prefer more RAM, you could go for the 8GB (Core i5) or 16GB (Core i7) model.

For more storage options, pick up the Core i5 version (256GB) or the Core i7 (256GB/512GB/1TB). Remember, you’ll pay more to get the models with more storage and RAM combinations.

Gold, Silver, and Grey are the three beautiful colour versions of the Air.

Just know: Apple has designed the MacBook Air without a microSD card reader. However, the laptop boasts two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports which serve as charging ports, as well.

A massive win for the laptop is its battery performance. Much like the  Apple MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, you should get at least 12 to 13 hours of productive work out of the laptop when it is not plugged in.

All MacBook Air laptops are shipped with a 30W USB-C charger for juicing it up quickly.

If you’ve got deep pockets, then buy the Apple MacBook Air. It is one of the best laptops for education majors.
